Since it's inception, Stylefurn has had a strong focus on understanding and performing the true duplication of traditional upholstery techniques and applications, this has been acheived through the completion of a trade qualification, with awards as best apprentice complimented further by on the job training and as lecturing for adult community education classes.
Some of the skills used in Traditional upholstery include many hand stitches, such as; the slip stitch, blind stitch, stitched edge, bridle stitch, deep bridle stitch using materials such as hessian, flock, coconut fibre, kapoc, horse hair, calico, coil springs, buttoning twine, and jute web.
These skills are integral to the development of deep sprung seats, fixed and stitched thumbrolls, padded arms, backs and seats all critical for the best in comfort.
